Grand Mere State Park + Geocaching

Continuing the adventure club’s explorations, this Sunday a group of twelve of us (and one dog) visited Grand Mere State Park in Southern Michigan. We parked at a lesser known North lot to explore a bit of the lakeshore before entering the park. Hiking inland from there we covered a few of the trails and summited some dunes. The trail was clear of snow and the sky was mostly clear, making for a great morning. We found one geocache near the parking lot before leaving. Rumor had it there was a world famous bakery in Stevensville, but unfortunately it was closed. Luckily we found a really cheap and delicious French sandwich shop (Baquette de France) in Berrien Springs. After filling up, we tracked down a couple more geocaches by the St. Joseph River and headed home.

For a crash course on the addictive activity of geocaching, read this from geocaching.com, or our blog post from Potato Creek.
For more info and a map of Grand Mere, look at the Michigan DNR site.
