Potato Creek State Park

Potato Creek State Park is the closest state park to South Bend and it’s a pretty awesome one. It includes trails for hiking or biking, a lake that can be paddled or swim in, a nature center, and lots of fun things to do.

Things to do:
Hike: A total of 9 trails and lots of beautiful scenery.
Bike: There’s a paved trail and many miles of mountain bike trails.
Get on the water: Lake Worster can be accessed at the beach. Take a paddle or if it isn’t too cold a swim.
Geocache: Last I checked there were five geocaches in the park. Get the coordinates from geocaching.com and go find them.
Forage: I’ve found apples and wild chives growing in the park. Anyone know of any others?
Bird watch: There’s a glass window at the nature center to watch from and a bird blind out on trail 2.
Cross county ski/sled: Keep yourself active in the winter.
Camp: A great way to get into the wilderness for a night without going too far from home.
Come back: The park is a great way to appreciate the different seasons. Grab an annual pass and go out there once every couple months. It’s like going to a completely different park.
